The journal bespoCE (CE = Commitment to Excellence) – promoting innovation in vocational education and training for the tailoring trade

Craftsmanship, fashion and sustainability have been shaping the future of vocational training for tailors and fashion designers for years. Awareness around fast fashion and the importance of transparent supply chains is growing steadily. Environmental protection measures and the enforcement of social standards in the fashion industry are increasingly supported and monitored through various regulations and laws. However, this paradigm shift depends on people who actively shape and drive the transformation process.

Current trends such as digitalisation, sustainability and internationalisation are placing new demands on the professionals of tomorrow – prompting a major transformation of traditional professions. Tailoring, as well as the textile, fashion and apparel industries, now require informed professionals who can think across disciplines, act responsibly and entrepreneurially, and work proactively, networked and with a long-term vision. It is not enough to address the symptoms of the problems – we must also tackle their root causes. This requires strong cooperation between vocational education, industry and research to ensure knowledge transfer and to make use of the synergies between these areas for vocational learning.

In a time of information overload, it is becoming increasingly difficult to access reliable, high-quality content. Due to the complexity of the sector, young people in training need efficient ways to gain a structured overview of current developments.

Launched through a European partnership with organisations from France, Turkey and Italy, the journal bespoCE contributes to forward-looking vocational education and training.

The journal is published three times a year.
